What is a soft base?

A soft base is a cushion made of soft and resilient material applied to the inside of your denture. This soft lining acts as a shock absorber between your gum and the rigid denture, providing significantly improved comfort, especially for people with sensitive gums or advanced bone resorption.

When do you need a soft base?

  • Sensitive or painful gums
  • Uncomfortable pressure points
  • Significant bone resorption
  • Difficulty wearing dentures all day
  • Chronic tissue irritation
  • Dentures causing pain when chewing
  • Benefits of soft base

    Immediate comfort and significant improvement
    Drastic reduction of pressure points
    Protection for sensitive gums
    Better distribution of chewing forces
    Improved denture retention
    Allows wearing dentures longer
    Relief for irritated tissues
    Ideal solution for adaptation period

    Types of soft bases

We use high-quality soft base materials designed to last between 1 and 2 years. These materials are hypoallergenic and stain-resistant. They can be applied to complete or partial dentures.

    The application process

    1
    Evaluation of your current dentures
    2
    Surface cleaning and preparation
    3
    Soft base application
    4
    Curing and finishing
    5

    6
    Specific care instructions

    Maintenance and durability

The soft base requires regular maintenance to maintain its properties. Clean gently with a soft brush and non-abrasive cleaner. Avoid very hot water. With proper care, the soft base generally lasts 1 to 2 years before needing replacement.

    Who is it ideal for?

  • Elderly people with fragile gums
  • Patients after recent extractions
  • Those who find their dentures uncomfortable
  • People with severe bone resorption
  • Patients requiring an adaptation period
  • Important considerations

While the soft base offers excellent comfort, it is not permanent and will need to be replaced periodically. It may also be less suitable for people who clench their teeth strongly or have very vigorous chewing habits.
